Owned and lovingly restored by Colleen, Nicol Street Heritage Cottages — formerly known as MORE Quarters — have been completely reimagined for a new chapter of luxury living in this Upper Long Street in Gardens precinct.
Our Journey Together
Tucked into the historic charm of Nicol Street, with Table Mountain rising beside you like a steadfast guardian, these heritage workers’ cottages have witnessed centuries of Cape Town’s evolution. Today, they offer travellers the rare privilege of staying within that history — thoughtfully restored, quietly luxurious, and deeply personal.
After leasing the cottages to the MORE Family Collection for 15 years, Colleen made the bold decision to reclaim and reimagine them. What followed was not a renovation, but a labour of love.
This was never a developer’s renovation. It was an owner’s restoration. Colleen worked alongside local artisans and Cape craftspeople, guiding each decision personally — from the selection of artwork to the sourcing of materials. Every detail, from texture to tone, was chosen with purpose. Each cottage now expresses its own character, while honouring the layered architectural history of the Old Quarter.
Guests begin their mornings at Our Local — a uniquely inspired neighbourhood space located right at the entrance to the street — grounding the experience firmly in community.
It has been a milestone for me to host our first workshop and Impact Imbizo within this space, introducing tour operators to what Nicol Street now represents: independent, owner-led, heritage hospitality in its most authentic form.
Today, Colleen welcomes travellers from across Europe, the UK and the United States — guests who seek a sense of place.
Supporting her vision, even if only for a few hours each month under our unique pay as you use marketing model, is a privilege. Nicol Street Heritage Cottages stand as a testament to what happens when heritage is not preserved for nostalgia — but revived with purpose.
